1) “Some people just want to visit every baseball stadium to watch a game. I just want to meet and chat with the people in my blogroll.”

Talking to Howard tonight reminded me of the diverse benefits that have come from Disruptive Thoughts. The people that I’ve met through Disruptive Thoughts has been incredible and I’m excited that there are so many more to meet. Watch out for a long overdue blogroll. And if you end up on it… expect a call :)

2) I’ve been invited to join a service that will syndicate my posts to various media outlets (Washington Post, SF Gate, …). Does anyone have any experiences with this to share?

3) Convinced of the value of community catalysts, social widgets, etc. and excited about the additional value they can bring to myself / Disruptive Thoughts / … I’m going to implement a new design soon so that I can have a second sidebar with more blog bling.

    Fraser: I’ve been approached by the same blog-syndication outfit, but don’t have any experiences with it to share as of yet — if you get some, maybe you could illuminate me and I will try and do likewise :-) As for the three-column widgetified template, I’m a big fan of RinTinTin, which is what I’ve been using for the past year or so at mathewingram.com/work.     I’m digging into it – I know a few ppl who have been involved in it for some time. I’ll email you anything of interest that I find. Does your involvement w/ the Globe & Mail impact your ability to be syndicated to these other media entities? Thanks for the template advice, I will definitely check it out.

    I still don’t even -have- a blogroll. Or any blog bling actually displayed. Part of it is not having the time, part of it is hating the clutter on other people’s blogs. Your layout looks good at the moment, I would try and keep it clean if I were you. Be careful of overly-sticky music players.

    I dont’ have a blogroll either, but I have a list of sites that I love to read when they pop into my reader (another thing I need to reorganize). You’re right that there’s a fine line between too much sidebar clutter – especially from a design standpoint. I don’t want to go crazy but I find what I have to add value and I suspect there will be new services that bring even greater value. Candace, you’ll have to keep me honest :)

    Blogburst is great if thats what you speak of. A few of my sites are involved with them and it’s cool to see your stuff on msm newspaper sites.
